Point Marion is a borough situated within Fayette County, Pennsylvania. As of 2010, Point Marion has a population of approximately 1,159 people according to the U.S. Census Bureau. The borough is located at the confluence of the Monongahela and Cheat Rivers near the West Virginia and Pennsylvania state borders. Point Marion was settled in the mid-18th century and is named in honor of Francis Marion, a Revolutionary War hero and South Carolina native.

About 4 miles north of the borough is Friendship Hill National Historic Site, home of Albert Gallatin, the longest-serving United States Secretary of the Treasury. The early 19th-century politician’s home overlooks the beautiful Monongahela River and is located about 70 miles south of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Located within the Point Marion borough limits is the Albert Gallatin Memorial Bridge. The bridge was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1988.
